Indian Air Force celebrating its 87th anniversary today

A scintillating air display by various aircraft is the hallmark of the Air Force Day Parade cum Investiture Ceremony.

Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman leaded a ‘MiG formation’ and flied a MiG Bison Aircraft. 

The IAF showcased its Chinook transport and Apache attack helicopters for the first time since they were acquired from the US in the last few months.


Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria said that Indian Air Force is on path of rapid modernisation through crucial acquisition like Rafale jets, S-400 missile system.

He added that there is a need to concentrate on indigenization.

Air Chief said that IAF has inducted and operationalised a substantial number of indigenous systems as part of the modernisation plan. He added that integrated air command & control system is one such fully indigenous system.
