South Africa eased past Sri Lanka to register a nine-wicket win in Chester-le-Street in the 35th World Cup clash on Friday.
Sri Lanka, with the loss, dented their chances of making it to the final four while South Africa not only walked away with a consolation win but also saw both the batting unit and the bowling unit produce a clinical show.
Once shot down for 203, Sri Lanka were already on the backfoot and then saw the door being smashed on their face as Faf du Plessis and Hashim Amla stitched a 175-run stand.
Pakistan scheduled to play against Afghanistan on Saturday in the ongoing ICC World cup at Leeds. In the other match New Zealand will play against Australia at Lords.
