DSNGS are mobile Earth stations which enable broadcasting from any remote place through a satellite system. These vans have been procured under the sanctioned scheme of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting through a global tender.
Out of these 9 DSNG vans, 4 are to be deployed in North-East one each at Gangtok, Kohima, Imphal and Agartala.
With the induction of these 9 DSNG Vans, Doordarshan now has a fleet of 43 vans including 25 C-Band DSNG and 18 Ku-Band DSNG Vans.
While, speaking to the media after flagging off the DSNG vans, I&B Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore said that for a fast moving country like India, people need fast, accurate and real time news and these DSNG vans will help in providing fast and credible news for the people of India.
