Home Minister Amit Shah reviews security situation in J&K

This is his first visit to the state after assuming charge of the Home Ministry in the 2nd tenure of BJP-led NDA government at the Centre. Home Minister Amit Shah was received by State Governor Satya Pal Malik, his advisors and other top state administration officials at the Technical Airport in Srinagar. 

Later, the Home Minister headed towards Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) where he chaired the high-level meeting to review the arrangements, including security plan for the peaceful and smooth conduct of upcoming 46-day annual Amarnath Yatra beginning on the 1st of July.

The Home Minister also reviewed the status of developmental activities including Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) that is under implementation in the state.

Union Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to co-chair a meeting of Unified Command Headquarters with State Governor Satya Pal Malik tomorrow morning to review the overall security situation in the state, particularly in the Valley.

Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba and other senior officials from the Ministry are accompanying Home Minister Amit Shah during the visit.
