Historic polling in Jammu & Kashmir BDC elections 

In Jammu & Kashmir, over 98 percent polling was recorded for the election of Chairpersons for Block Development Councils (BDCs) on Thursday. 

Briefing media in Srinagar, late Thursday evening  Chief Electoral Officer while announcing the final results of BDC election said that a total of 217 independent and 81 BJP Candidates were declared winner.

In Kashmir Division out of 137 Blocks notified for election,109 independent and 18 BJP candidates were elected. In Jammu Division out of 148 blocks, 88 independent and 52 BJP candidates won the BDC election. 

In Ladakh Division out of 31 blocks notified for election,20 independent and 11 BJP candidates were elected. 

The elections were held peacefully throughout the State and no untoward incident was reported from any part of the state. 

Over 26 thousand Panches and Sarpanches participated in BDC elections.
