High profile voters garner media attention during 5th Phase Elections

Voter enthusiasm has been sustained through the more than month long electoral exercise. In the fifth phase of elections to the 17th Lok Sabha, many political Leaders led the way, being among the first people to cast their votes. Among them Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who is seeking reelection from the Lucknow constituency. He claimed the BJP will win a clear majority.

Union I&B and Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore also cast his vote in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections. He appealed to all voters to exercise their franchise.

Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot was also among the early voters in Jalupura, Rajasthan. And in Lucknow, BSP chief Mayawati led her party workers by exercising her franchise.

In Bihar, former Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy, his mother, wife and daughter all voted in Saran. Congress leader Subodh Kant Sahai exercised his franchise in Ranchi.

Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal cast his vote and encouraged people to do the same in  Bikaner, Rajasthan. BJP MLA and daughter of the last Maharaj of Jaipur Diya Kumar also cast her vote.

BJP candidate from Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh, Union Minister Jayant Singh voted in Hazaribagh. His father and former Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha also voted in Hazaribagh Lok Sabha constituency along with his wife.

When famous people vote they encourage a large section to society to do the same. Apart from leaders, folk singer Malini Awasthi cast her vote in Lucknow. Filmmaker Ashutosh Rana cast his vote in Narsinghpur in Madhya Pradesh.

All voters play their part in a democracy. These visuals reflect the rich diversity of participation in the festival of the world’s laregst democracy.
