Hectic efforts on to form new government in Karnataka

Hectic efforts are on to form the government in Karnataka after the 14 month old Kumaraswamy govt collapsed. BJP, Congress and the JD S spent the day strategizing in meetings and interacting with the press. 

BJP state President and legislative party leader BS Yeddyurappa was busy in meetings through the day. Apart from consultations with party leaders he also met RSS leaders. He said he was awaiting instructions from his party central leadership on staking claim to form an alternative government in the state. Several BJP leaders expressed confidence of forming a govt soon.

Meanwhile, outgoing Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday remained non-committal on the future of his party JDS-es alliance with the Congress, saying both parties have not yet discussed it. Addressing a press conference he urged officials to continue working in the interest of the people of the state.


Congress MLAS also attended a CLP meeting in Bengaluru to discuss the future course of action. There was unanimity on the decision to take disciplinary action against rebel mlas who defied the party whip.

Expelled BSP MLA Mahesh held a Press Conference to clarify his position. He said he was not in the know of any directive from BSP supremo Mayawati.


The Kumaraswamy government lost the trust vote to the BJP on Tuesday. 105 votes went in favour of the latter while 99 votes went to the coalition. HD Kumrswamy’s resignation was accepted by the Governor soon after.
