Heavy rains continue to lash Mumbai & adjoining suburbs

Mumbaikars have been witnessing heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by strong winds and lightning, since yesterday leading to waterlogging and traffic congestion at several spots.

Nonstop rains in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and other suburbs have led to flooding in residential areas.

Mumbai Police requested commuters to avoid water-logged areas and also to maintain distance from the sea.

BMC officials are also on alert and have alerted locals not to step out unless necessary.

Meanwhile, due to heavy rainfall compounded with over flowing Ulhas river resulting in water logging at Ambernath, 20 trains were terminated while two were cancelled.

Met Department has predicted scattered heavy rainfall in Raigad, Thane, Palghar and some parts of Ratnagiri and extra heavy rainfall at isolated places across Maharashtra on Saturday and Sunday.
