On the 3rd day of his Vietnam visit, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday presented the artificial limb fitments to the beneficiaries at the Embassy of India in Hanoi under the India for humanity initiative. He also met with the beneficiaries including a young boy who lost his foot in a road accident on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice President said that the partnership between the Centre and Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Samiti is a partnership of love, affection service and compassion to honour the life of Mahatma Gandhi.
Naidu inaugurated the Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camp in Hanoi during his four-day official visit to Vietnam. The Camp is being held under the ‘India For Humanity’ program in the context of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The iconic Jaipur Foot is lighter than all the other artificial limbs and has transformed the lives of thousands and helped them lead a life of dignity. This initiative provides the differently abled persons a sense of freedom and mobility, while these artificial limbs are designed with latest technologies and the services are completely free of charge.
Earlier the Vice President offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at the Embassy of India in Hanoi. The Vice President will hold talks with Prime Minister of Vietnam in Hanoi later on Saturday.
The Vice President also visited Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and paid tributes to Vietnamese Revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi.
