When the going tough the tough get going.. thats the message that Col Rajywardhan Rathore gave to all the medal winners at a glittering ceremony in Delhi. As the Indian contingent touched new highs with their record breaking 69 medals, including 15 gold, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs organised a felicitation program in their honour.
While individual gold medal winners were given Rs 40 lakhs, silver and bronze medal winners took home Rs 20 and Rs 10 lakhs each.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh heaped praise on all the medal winners and also praised the efforts put in by Union Sports Minister Rajyvardhan Rathore for the betterment of sports in the country.
The evening was graced by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram, Kiren Rijiju, RK Singh and Mahesh Sharma along with Sports Secretary Rahul Bhatnagar, IOA President Narinder Batra and SAI DG Neelam Kapur among others. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said that sports has become an integral part of one’s life.
India registered its best ever medal haul in the history of the Asian Games, fetching 69 medals which includes 15 gold, 24 silver and 30 bronze.
