Government distributes free DD set to people living in border areas of Jammu and Kashmir

Doordarshan’s DTH service which is known as DD Free Dish was launched in 2004. DD Free Dish has been upgraded from time to time. At present its capacity is 104 SDTV channels along with 40 Radio channels.

Speaking on the occasion, the Information and Broadcasting Minister said that that government is committed to work for the welfare of people of the state.

The  said that DD Free Dish will help even those people who are living in remote and distant areas of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the DD Free Dish plan aims to cover even those areas in the country where TV has not reached so far.

The information and broadcasting minister also hailed Doordarshan for its credibility when it comes to news coverage and telecast.

Addressing the audience during the launch ceremony of distribution of  DD FREE DISH Set top boxes, Prasar Bharati Chairman, Dr. A. Surya Prakash said that Prasar Bharati will continue to contribute in Jammu Kashmir’s journey for prosperity and development.

Speaking at a function in Srinagar to mark the distribution of DD FREE DISH SET TOP BOXES, the Prasar Bharati Chairman said that DD Free Dish has emerged as an empowering tool for the masses and now it has reached more than 34 million households in India.
