Glittering start for India at 18th Asian Games 2018

The Asian Games were declared open by Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo.  

Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra was India’s flag-bearer in the opening ceremony.

The Indian sports ministry had cleared an 804-member Indian contingent, including 572 athletes, for the Asian Games.

The sporting extravaganza will see around 10,000 athletes from 45 countries compete in 58 games.India begin their campaign with women’s hockey team, wrestlers Sushil Kumar and Bajrang Punia  and shuttlers Kidambi Srikant and  HS Prannoy  playing key matches.

In Kabaddi, Indian women’s team thrashes Japan 43-12 in Group A match.

In Shooting,  Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar qualify for final of 10m air rifle event.In, Rowing, Dattu Bhokanal finishes second in men’s singles sculls heat.

Can qualify for final through repechage

.In, Swimming, Srihari Nataraj qualifies for the final of the men’s 100m Backstroke.

In Rowing, Om Prakash and Sawarn Singh qualify for the final in Men’s Double Sculls.

And in Swimming, Sajan Prakash qualifies for Men’s 200m Butterfly final.
