Austria’s fourth seeded Dominic Thiem will face the world number two Rafael Nadal in Men’s final this evening. The pair have met on 12 occasions with the 11-times French Open champion Nadal winning eight times.
Thiem, however, has won their most recent head-to-head. The Austrian beat Nadal in the semi-finals of the Barcelona Open 6-4,6-4.
Today’s final is also a repeat of last year’s finale when Nadal won in straight sets 6-4, 6-3, 6-2. If Nadal wins, he will become the first player to win 12 or more titles at the same grand slam, moving past Margaret Court who won 11 Australian Opens.
