Udaipur : A family of soldiers in Dungarpur set an example to others by exercising their franchise rights despite a tragedy that took place in their home early morning. Ramchandra Mennat, an ex serviceman’s wife Fannu (70) died in the week hours on Monday due to some ailment. The family was under severe grief and relatives from far and wide began gathering at their home in Nalwa Fala village under Gumanpura panchayat of Dungarpur.
While the relatives suggested to make preparations for the funeral, Ramchandra told them that they all should go to vote first and hold the final rites later. Villagers were surprised at the man who was determined that the tragedy would not deter them from performing their duties of responsible citizens. The soldier urged all the people to cast their votes first and then assemble for the cremation. His brother Rajendra and elder son Ganesh , both retired soldiers of the army , agreed with Ramchandra and accompanied him to the polling booth in the morning. When the polling officials came to know about the incident, they facilitated the aggrieved family members to cast votes speedily so that they could get back home sooner for the cremation.
