Defence Minister assesses flood situation in Kodagu

Speaking to the press, Defence Minister said that the torrential rains that lashed the district last week has left a huge trail of destruction.

More than 5,000 people have been rendered homeless. Restoration of some of the roads, houses, buildings, water & electricity connections in Kodagu is being done by the Army & the Air Force.

Addressing the media, Defence Minister said that a Central team will visit flood affected parts of the state and then only a relief package will be announced.

Sitharaman also said that she will submit a report to the Prime Minister on the flood situation in the state. She assured that she will speak to the Union Minister of Road Transport, Highways and Shipping and the Union Home Minister for ensuring adequate relief measures.
