DD News Kathmandu correspondent reports that Tarai, the southern region of the country, is the worst affected.
Hundreds of houses have been damaged by rain and thousands of people shifted to safer places in various parts of Tarai. Many highways have also been blocked due to flood and landslides.
A bridge along the East-West Highway in Bardibas municipality of Mahottari district has been swept away causing complete halt of transportation on the highway.
Meanwhile, rescue and relief operation is underway. More than 27000 Nepal Police personnel carrying out rescue and relief work in the affected areas.
Water level in various rivers is increasing and some are flowing above the danger level at few places.
People living on the banks of rivers and nearby areas have been advised to be on high alert.
According to Meteorological Forecasting Division heavy rainfall is likely to occur at a few places of the eastern and central regions and at one or two places of the western region.
