Congress’s Nana Patole elected Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly

Congress MLA Nana Patole has been elected unopposed after the opposition BJP withdrew the candidature of its nominee Kisan Kathore on Sunday morning.

Pro tem speaker Dilip Valse Patil anounced Nana Patole’s name.

Patole succeeds Haribhau Bagade of the BJP, who was speaker during 2014-2019 when Fadnavis was the CM.

This is the fourth term as an MLA for Patole who represents Sakoli Assembly segment in Vidarbha.

The Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government passed the floor test in the state Assembly on Saturday.
