The festival is celebrated with the name of Hariyali Teej in North India. On this day, women dress up in traditional attires and don all hues of green, from bangles to sari and apply heena in hands as they observe a day-long fast to pray.
They offer belpatri, fruits, flowers and rice coated in turmeric to the Goddess Parvati.
