Buddha Purnima celebrated across the world 

Buddha Purnima celebrated with religious fervor and great enthusiasm. The day falls in the Hindu month of Vaisakha on the day of full moon. The day marks Gautama Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and death. 

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu And Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted people on the occasion. 

The President in his message offered warm greetings and good wishes to all fellow citizens as well as followers of Lord Buddha across the world. He said .. “Lord Buddha’s message of peace, non-violence and compassion hold even greater significance today. May his teachings guide us towards universal fraternity.”

The Vice President in his message said, Lord Buddha’s eternal message of non-violence and compassion continues to inspire humanity across the globe to strive towards a more fulfilling life and a world where all people live together and shaping it together into a peaceful, inclusive, sustainable globe. He further tweete. On this happy occasion, let us commit ourselves to the path of Dharma, Karuna and Maitri shown by Lord Buddha.

In Uttar Pradesh, devotees offered prayers at Sarnath temple near Varanasi on  the occasion of Budh Purnima.

Devotees also offer prayers and take holy dip at Ganga river at Prayagraj on the occasion of Buddha Purnima.

Buddha Purnima is being celebrated with traditional fervour in Siliguri, in West Bengal as well.
