Birbhum incident shook the entire nation: Sambit Patra

New Delhi, March 24 : BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra on Thursday demanded apology from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the killings in Birbhum and said the incident “shook” the entire nation. “This incident not only pertains to West Bengal, but it pertains to humanity and the entire country,” said BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra in a press conference, here. Calling the incident as ‘heart-wrenching,’ Patra said the killings shook the entire nation. “The way six women and two children were burnt alive in Bengal, it is matter of concern for the whole country,” he added. He said even the Prime Minister expressed concerned over the incident yesterday and the whole country was worried over the same. “Some leaders of Bengal are trying to cover the ruthless killings, they said that a short circuit happened, a cylinder had exploded. But today, when the postmortem reports came out, it became clear that the women and children were brutally beaten up”… Where are those leaders now?,” he said. Patra also alleged that in last one week, 26 political murders took place in the state and the Chief Minister failed to stop the killings in Bengal. “The politics of revenge is happening in Bengal and till date, the workers of Mamata Banerjee have killed about 200 BJP workers” he said. On Tuesday, eight people, including three women and two children, were locked in their homes and burnt alive by a mob, believed to be in retaliation to killing of a local Trinamool Congress leader in a crude bomb attack. The charred bodies were found a day later, mostly belonging to one family. On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the state government to take strict action against the perpetrators and assured all possible support to the state government to nab the culprits.
