They announced the elections date after due consultation with the Supreme Court appointed amicus curiae P S Narsimha. The CoA was appointed by the Supreme Court in January 2017 to oversee the sweeping reforms recommended by the Lodha panel.
The CoA chairman Vinod Rai announced the date of the elections after a meeting held in New Delhi on Tuesday. The new BCCI constitution was registered in August 2018 but no elections could be held because a majority of the state associations had failed to adopt the new constitution for numerous reasons. They also approached the SC regarding the issue.
In the meeting attended by all three CoA members, chief Vinod Rai, Diana Edulji and Ravi Thodge, the deadline to hold state elections was set at September 14.
