The Dhaka-Chattogram and Dhaka-Dewanganj trains will run on a daily basis while the Khulna-Dhaka train will run thrice a week.

Freight services between Dhaka and Chattogram have remained suspended from March 29 after the Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Dhaka ran out of space to store the goods.
Passenger train services have been suspended since March 24 to contain the spread of Corona virus in the country.

The import export facility with India at the Benapole-Petrapole land port has also started operating from Thursday after remaining closed for more than a month following Corona outbreak.
In the meanwhile, Bangladesh reported five more deaths and 552 new cases of Corona infection in the country on Saturday.

With this, the total number of deaths due to Corona has gone up to 175 while 8790 people have been infected till now.

The first Corona death in Bangladesh was reported on March 18.

The government of Bangladesh continued with relief distribution in the country to mitigate the impact of Corona on poorer sections of society.

According to an official handout cited by the official news agency BSS, 4 crore people across the country have received relief assistance till now.

In a bid to contain the spread of Corona virus in the country, Bangladesh has imposed a countrywide ‘general holiday’ till May 5.

All private and government offices except those involved in emergency services as specified by the government, educational institution, malls and other places of public gathering are closed.

Public transport including rail, road, waterways and flight services is also closed.

However, the general holidays are expected to be further extended in view of the sharp rise in Corona cases in the country.

Speaking to media in Dhaka on Saturday, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said that government may extend the general holidays in the country till May 16 after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approves the proposal.
