Ayodhya : Mediation Panel Given Extension

The Supreme Court on Friday extended till August 15 the time for a panel of mediators, headed by former apex court judge Justice F M I Kalifulla, to explore an amicable solution to the politically sensitive Ayodhya land dispute case.   A five judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said they have received the report from Justice Kalifulla in which the panel has sought extension of time till August 15 to complete mediation proceedings.
Several political parties have welcomed the apex court verdict
The matter is being heard by a five judge constitution bench comprising Justices S A Bobde, D Y Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer apart from Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi himself.. The apex court has also allowed parties to raise objections before the panel till  30th of next month. The panel was asked by the apex court to hold  in-camera proceedings and complete it within eight weeks.
