Voting for 4 state assemblies took place simultaneously with polling for 91 Lok Sabha constituencies. Voter enthusiasm was palpable in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Odisha.
Polling took place on all 175 assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh. All 32 assembly seats in Sikkim. 57 assembly seats in Arunachal Pradesh, besides 28 assembly seats in Odisha in the first phase.
In Andhra Pradesh, voters voted for 175-member state assembly for the second time post bifurcation. Voting began at 7 am and instances of technical glitches in evms delayed polling in many places.
Voting resumed after technical teams addressed the problem.
Brisk Voting was witnessed for 57 assembly seats in Arunachal Pradesh. Polling began at 7 am amid tight security and long queues of voters were seen outside polling stations. Tight security arrangements were put in place in insurgency-affected Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts.
Polling began at 7 am for elections to 32-member Sikkim assembly and for the lone Lok Sabha seat in the hill state. Polling was incident-free and peaceful in the state
Voting was peaceful for 28 assembly seats in Odisha in the first phase. EVMs and VVPATS affected by technical glitches were replaced in 30 – 40 minutes by polling staff at affected polling stations.
Voting continued till 6 pm in 8 assembly seats…while it ended at 4 pm on 20 maoist-affected assembly seats in Odisha.
Polling has concluded for assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh…while Odisha will witness polling in 3 more phases.
