Normalcy has resumed in the state of Assam after protests that erupted in the wake of passage of Citizenship Amendment Bill in Parliament. Although the curfew has officially not been removed in Guwahati, the residents have resumed back to their day to day routines. There have been peaceful protests at a few places and curfew had been relaxed in Dibrugarh district.
Assam DGP, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta clarified that strict action will be taken against people taking over law and order in their hands. He also mentioned that no action will be taken against people protesting in a peaceful manner in the state. Meanwhile in the Silchar city of Assam people have welcomed the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
