8 kids die in two days at Udaipur’s govt hospital

Udaipur : Eight kids admitted in the Bal Chikitsalaya (children’s hospital) at the government Maharana Bhupal Hospital campus here died in a short span of two days. According to hospital authorities, patients inflow has increased in past few days perhaps due to the extreme weather condition and eight kids died in the intensive care unit within two days.

According to sources, 17 kids were under treatment for critical illness at the ICU and on January 28, thirteen more kids were admitted in the hospital. These kids were admitted in unit A, B and C of the children’s hospital and were shifted to the intensive care unit on Monday night after their condition deteriorated. As per the hospital records total eight kids succumbed to their illness in two days. Five kids who died in the ICU were referred cases from Sarada block, one each from Dungarpur, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh and Rajsamand while remaining others were from Gogunda, Goverdhan Vilas, Girva.

” Of the four kids who died on January 28 included two kids who were just one and three months old while a 4 year old and a 12 year old kid died due to different illness. They were referred cases and were serious and our team made all efforts to save them but unfortunately couldnt succeed” Dr Lakhan Poswal, senior pediatrician and Superintendent of MB Hospital told Udaipur Kiran.
