8  Bills introduced in Lok Sabha

In Lok Sabha, 8 significant Bills were tabled today. Union Minister Harshvardhan introduced DNA Technology Regulation Bill. Reacting on the Bill, Congress leaders Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary and Shashi Tharoor raised objection. Dr Harshvardhan assured the house that all concerns will be discussed during the discussion.

Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy introduced the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Bill 2019 in Lok Sabha. The minister said the government is only against the terrorists and no innocent will be harmed.

G Kishan Reddy also introduced the NIA amendment bill 2019. NIA Act will be strengthened with the bill. Many new crimes are being included under the NIA Act.

The other bills include The Protection of Human Rights (Amendment) Bill, 2109, The Consumer Protection Bill, 2019, The Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised 
Occupants) Amendment Bill, 2019, The Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and The Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2019.

In Rajya Sabha, speaking on the issue of privatisation of Bharat Earth Movers Limited, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that there are many steps of strategic disinvestment and that national security is paramount. 

Speaking on the issue of inadequate bullet proof jackets in army, the Defence Minister said from 2015-16 to 2018-19 financial years, 210 contracts for capital procurement of defence equipment were put on paper. This included helicopters, artillery guns and warships to ballistic helmets, radars and bullet-proof jackets.
