5 smugglers held, 3.25 kg opium seized in Pratapgarh

Udaipur : Five persons were arrested and 3 kilo 250 grams of opium was seized from their possession by Dhamotar police team in Pratapgarh district on Tuesday. Cops have also seized 3 pistols with 2 magazines, 10 live bullets and 2.30 lakh rupees cash from them. The accused were caught when they were seen waiting inside three luxury cars on a roadside.

The seized opium is worth rupees four crore in the international market, sources claim. “ Our men observed weirdness in the behavior of the racket who were waiting in three cars on a road side near Halka Mauja area. When they were quizzed, four of the men were found to be from Jodhpur while one was a local resident. When we searched the cars, the contraband was found in stuffed packets in large quantity and the men had armed weapons without proper license.

The five men identified as Vishulal Gayri from Pratapgarh, Kamlesh Bishnoi, BhawaniShankar Paliwal, Ashwini Tanwar and Nathmal Jatiya all from Baap village in Jodhpur were taken in custody for smuggling the contraband. They have been booked under provisions of the NDPS Act and Arms Act, Deepak Kumar, SHO Dhamotar police station said.
