Good News ahead of Diwali for central government employees and pensioners. The Union Cabinet also approved to release an additional installment of Dearness Allowance to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief to pensioners with effect from 01.07.2019 representing an increase of 5% over the existing rate of 12% of the Basic pay/Pension to compensate for price rise. This increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
Decisions have also been taken for the welfare of the farmers. The Union Cabinet has approved the relaxation of the mandatory requirement of Aadhaar Seeded data as a pre-condition for release of funds to the beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri KisanSamman Nidhi scheme. The scheme provides income support of Rs 6,000 per year to landholding families subject to certain exclusions. The amount is released in three 4-monthly installments of Rs 2,000 each directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through DBT mode.
