The maritime port of Cox’s Bazar has been advised to hoist local warning signal no. 4, according to a special bulletin released by the Met Department.

The latest met office bulletin issued at midday today said that the cyclonic storm Bulbul was 280 kilometers southwest of Bangladesh’s south-western Mongla Port and 315 km southwest of Payra Port.
In view of the ‘very severe cyclonic storm’ warning,Bangladesh authorities today ordered an evacuation campaign.
Senior Secretary in the Ministry of Disaster Management Md Shah Kamal told newsmen that 4 lakh people were evacuated and another 18 lakh people will be evacuated to shelters by the evening today in 14 vulnerable districts.
Speaking at a rally of workers in Dhaka today, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina assured people that the government has made all preparations to tackle the approaching severe cyclone Bulbul.
Government has taken precautionary measures in the areas likely to be affected by the Cyclonic storm by opening cyclone shelters in the coastal region.
The Navy has also kept five ships ready at Khulna for emergency relief and rescue operations in Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Jhalakathi and Barguna.
