Udaipur : Under the ongoing special Deepwali vigilance, to check adulteration in eatable commodities, the food safety cell of the medical and health department on sunday seized a large stock of spurious milk cake from a godam in Bhupalpura area of the city.
The sprious sweets had been transported from Alwar and was meant to be locally supplied to the sweetsellers here. Anil Bharadwaj, the food safety inspector and his team had held sudden raid at the godam owned by one Lalit Manwani, initially the accused denied the stock to be his but later when surrendered when he was throughly questioned. Manwani runs a firm named Lalit enterprises at Mandi ki Naal inside the walled city area. According to sources, the consignment had come in from Alwar in six boxes which contained a mixture of refined and soyabean oil. Whether some other things have been mixed would be only known after the samples are sent for laboratory testing, Bharadwaj said. Legal action would be initiated once the adulteration is proven in lab,authorities said.
