2 burnt alive as trailer catches fire in Dungarpur

Udaipur : Two men were burnt alive after the cabin of their trailer caught fire near Lehana Ghati on NH-8 under Bichhiwara Police Station in Dungarpur on Sunday late night. The deceased were identified as Biram so Hemraj Gurjar and Raju so Harlal Gurjar, both from Binay village in Ajmer.

“The victims were coming from Jamnagar (Gujrat) with a trailer loaded with coal. Around 12 am they halted at one of the highway dhabas here  to eat. Afterwards they went to sleep in the cabin and latched it from inside” said Dalpat Singh Rathore, SHO Bichhiwara police station. Some time later the hotel owner saw flames inside the cabin. They called police immediately and tried to break open the cabin with the help of tools.

Hotel workers helped to control the flames timely and thus averted the fire to spread on the other part of the trailer containing coal load. “ Unfortunately by the time the cabin door was broke open, the victims had died. Prima facie it appears to be an accident. The reason for the fire could be short circuit or may be the men left a cigarette or bidi burning on the cushion unknowingly” the officer said. A case has been registered and investigation is on to find out the real cause of fire. The victims family members took the bodies to Ajmer Monday afternoon.
