13th SAG:Indian men’s volleyball team to clash with Pakistan in the final

In a thrilling first semifinal India defeated Sri Lanka by 3-1 in Kathmandu today. There was neck to neck competition between the two teams.

In the first set Sri Lankan players gave though fight but India could manage to win it by 27-25. India won second set easily by 25- 19. But in third set Sri Lankan bounced back and won by 25-21. India won the fourth and deciding set by 25-21 and stormed into the final.

India will now take on Pakistan in the final on Tuesday. In the second semifinal Pakistan beat Bangladesh in straight sets by 25-15, 25-21 and 26-24.

Indian women’s team has already reached in the final defeating Maldives yesterday. Indian girls will clash with host Nepal in the final on Tuesday. 

Meanwhile, Nepal is all set for formal opening ceremony of the biggest sporting event of South Asia. President of Nepal Bidya Devi Bhandari will declare games open this evening at Dashrath Rangshala in Kathmandu.

During 10 day event 2715 athletes will compete for 1119 medals including 319 Gold in 26 game categories. As many as 487 athletes from India are participating in the games.

The closing ceremony will be held on 10th December.
