Udaipur : Famous Bollywood lyricist Pandit Vishveshwar Sharma, passed away Tuesday early morning at his residence here at Bhattiyani Chohatta after prolonged illness. He was 88. Pt Sharma has penned several memorable songs of different varieties –love duets, sad, philosophical and others for some 85 hindi movies. His famous songs include “Chal Sanyasi Mandir mein….” from Hema Malini- Manoj Kumar starrer movie “Sanyasi” in 1975 which gave him fame and recognition in the film industry.
He composed several songs for movies like Atmaram, Papi pet ka sawaal hai, Dhoop Chhaon, Do Jhoot, Duniyadaari, Inteqaam ki Aag etc. Many of his songs have been voiced by famous singers including Lata Mangeshkar, Mohd Rafi, Kishore Kumar etc.Pandit Sharma had worked with many of the hit music composers of the 70s and 80s. Sharma is survived by his 2 sons and 4 daughters. The funeral took place here at the Ashok Nagar cremation ground where large number of people from the creative arena had gathered to pay their last homage. Pandit Sharma was also noted for his sarcastic poetry which earned him the title of “Parody King” among hindi laureates. He had been busy with his poetic creation “ Maanviyam” for some time while another of his writing “ Kalidasottama” is under publication.
