Students storm V-C office, union president arrested

Student union president Udaipur : A large number of students stormed the office of the Vice Chancellor of the Mohanlal Sukhadia University here on Tuesday noon and dismantled university properties. Alleging grave misappropriation in paper checking and faulty results, the students created ruckus for some time. With the students resorting to destroying office properties, staff of the office ran helter-skelter till police arrived to hold the situation. Later two students including the union president were taken in custody and additional force was deployed in the campus.

VC officeThe incident took place on Tuesday noon when a delegation of students led by the central student union president Himanshu Choudhary barged into the V-C’s room and expressed discontentment on the results of various faculties that were declared recently. The students claimed that the agency authorized to prepare results was not functioning properly and there were errors in results since many students had failed while some who appeared in examination, were show as absent. The staff tried to pacify the boys who didn’t pay heed and dismantled the furniture and belongings at the office and created ruckus for some time. Choudhary reportedly misbehaved with the Vice Chancellor Prof. I.V Trivedi and broke the glass counter on the table hurting himself. Seeing situation getting worse, police was informed who came and arrested Choudhary and his aide Kuldeep Singh. Police teams from Pratapnagar and Bhupalpura were deployed at the campus which tried to mollify the agitators. However, students continued to protest and shouted slogan against the V-C for the action. “ Two students have been taken into custody under section 151 of the IPC for breaking peace and tranquility, we are yet to receive an official complaint from the V-C” said Deputy SP Madhuri Verma.
