Udaipur : In a pioneering move, the Rajasthan Co-operative Dairy federation Ltd (RCDF) is all set to launch its first ‘ Any Time Milk’ machine or the milk vending machine in Udaipur. Home Minister Gulabchand Kataria and parliamentarian Arjunlal Meena would inaugurate the machine in a ceremony to be held on April 5 at the Saras Dairy office in Goverdhan Vilas. With the facility launched, fresh and chilled milk would be available to the citizens 24×7 at the press of a button. Once it starts functioning, depending upon the public response, RCDF would extend the facility to other corners of the city too.
The machine will be equipped with a cooling unit and will have an intake capacity of 180 liters, said Geeta Patel, the chairperson of Saras milk dairy. The vending machine would dispense milk pouches of 500 ml each and would sensor currency notes of 10 and 20 rupees as well as coins so that the people would not have to worry for change. If a liter of milk cost 18 rupees, the machine would return the balance amount of Re 2 to the user and dispense the milk pouch accordingly. This facility would enable people specially those arriving late or returning home after night shifts. The dairy workers would check the quantity of pouches two to three times a day so that machine do not run short of supply and people get fresh & chilled milk any time, Patel said. The expiry of pouches would be taken due care of and the expired packets would be refilled with fresh ones. ‘ If there is a good response, other Saras products like lassi, chhach, flavored milk, cheese etc also would be made available in future’ authorities said. India’s leading dairy AMUL last year had set up the country’s first milk vending machine at Anand which had become an instant hit.
