Udaipur : Taking strict action against sonography centres violating the pre-conception pre-natal diagnostic techniques (PCPNDT) Act 1994, the Central PCPNDT investigating and monitoring committee seized sonography machines of five diagnostic centres in the state for allegedly violating the Act.
The four-member team was in the state from November 18 to November 20. The team conducted 17 inspections in four districts of the state including Jaipur (7), Udaipur (3), Rajsamand (3) and Tonk (4) district.
According to the state PCPNDT cell officials, the Centre’s team found that five sonography centres allegedly violated the norms.
Sonography machines of Vinayak Hospital in Jaipur, Chawla Hospital in Tunga, Gehlot Hospital in Tonk, Manohar Maternity Nursing Home and Radhika Nursing Home in Rajsamand were seized.
The team met the Navin Jain of state PCPNDT and directed the officials to strengthen MTP Act’ implementation. Jain informed the visiting team about the measures taken by the health department to prevent sex determination activities in the state including tracking of children and monitoring of sonography machines.
The report of the inspections done here will be submitted to the Centre.
