Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the SCO summit at China’s Qingdao city for the first time after India became full member of the organisation. He highlighted India’s universal brotherhood, and neighborhood policy and called upon member states to cooperate in the fields of Agriculture, Water Resources and Pharma. He also said that Afghanistan’s democratic process must be respected.

China President Xi Jinping warmly welcomed the Prime Minister Modi at the venue. Attending India’s first summit as a full member of the SCO, Prime Minister Modi gave the 6 point concept of SECURE.
With the policy of neighborhood first, Prime Minister Modi stressed on connectivity in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation region.
The Prime Minister asserted that only six percent of foreign tourists in India are from SCO countries, which he said can be doubled easily by increasing awareness about the shared cultures. He called for setting up a specific road map for the 25th anniversary of SCO in 2026 for the organisation to grow.
SCO Member states also exchanged documents on major issue like economic cooperation, security, regional peace and the ways to tackle terrorism. The SCO Action plan for 2019 to 2020 was also signed.
Other members of sco also showed their commitment towards the universal brotherhood. In his address, Chinese President Xi Jinping said, Beijing remains committed to tackling terrorism, extremism and separatism as in the vision of SCO.
While addressing the summit, Russian President Valadimir Putin stressed on the importance of the SCO for the regional peace and tranquility.
Member states stressed regional peace, development and security. Prime minister modi in his address called for cooperation among members states and mutual benefits which was vetted by the member states. with the conclusion of the summit, the focus of Sco is clear on resolving border issues, combatting terrorism and promoting regional peace and security.
PM also had a bilateral meeting with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and discussed mutual and global matters which have an impact on both the countries.
PM Narendra Modi and President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov met on sidelines of the SCO Summit to re-energize a time tested partnership.
