It is perhaps the first case in Raj where a large group sex racket has been busted and all persons booked under prostitution charges.
Udaipur : Acting on a tip-off, Udaipur police busted a rave party on Sunday night, which was being held in one of a resort on the Udaipur-Ahmedabad highway. The police raided the hotel where the party was being held and have arrested 82 persons including 16 women who were said to have been called from Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bhopal and Agra. Most of the men arrested are told to be businessmen from Gujarat who were sent special invitation by the organizers of the event. All of the arrested people have been booked under PITA (Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act) who were produced before the magistrate on Monday evening. It is perhaps the first case in Raj where a large group sex racket has been busted and all persons booked under prostitution charges. A team of more than 25 cops and officers executed the raid task which went throughout the night and the accused were brought to the police station on early Monday morning.
“We had a tip-off about a rave party going on at Udai Palace Hotel and Resorts, situated on the Udaipur-Ahmedabad Highway in the Goverdhan Vilas police station area” said Ajaypal Lamba, SP Udaipur. The SP constituted a special team under supervision of Deputy SP Ranu Sharma along with CI Abdul Rehman and SHO, Tidi Jitendra Singh who were entrusted with the task of busting the party. Two constables were sent as bogus customers who paid entrance fees of 4 thousand rupees each to make an entry. On receiving a signal from them, the police team jumped the boundary wall of the resort and made a sudden raid in the hotel to find several girls dancing semi nude in the party, while many guests were found inside hotel rooms in compromising positions. Panic wrecked the party as guests tried to escape by locking themselves inside rooms which were later forced opened by the police. Most of the arrested persons were told to be businessmen and big shots from Surat, Valsad, Ahmedabad in Gujarat, Kishangarh and Dungerpur. There were two classes for the party with entry fees of 6 thousand and 4 thousand rupees including food. Guests were required to pay extra amount for the ‘entertainment’. “ We raided around 10.30 pm and it took more than 7 hours to complete the task. We brought all of them at around 5 am at the Goverdhan Vilas police station” Ranu Sharma, the DSP claimed. “ Total 82 people including 16 women have been arrested who were produced before the magistrate on Monday evening” she informed. The hotel owner Pawan Bansal managed to flee, however, his wife has been arrested. Police has also found some cash, large stock of liquor to be served in the party. “ It is perhaps the first time in the state where so many people have been booked under PITA charges in a raid, generally petty sections like 151 of the IPC is charged on persons other than the main accused” Ranu said.
