Udaipur : Rajasthan government has given away cash award of Rs 10 lakh to 138 talented students and free scooties to 51 girls of tribal areas of Udaipur division who secured above 65 per cent of marks in class 10th and 12th board examinations.
The state Scheduled Area Development Minister Nandlal Meena yesterday gave away the cash prizes and the two-wheelers to the students of tribal areas at a function organized by Maniykya Verma Aadim Caste Research and Training Institute here, an official said.
A team was constituted to make changes in residential schools-cum-hostels in the state for which it will study similar establishments of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, Meena said.
The team members would visit the three states to study their residential school pattern and suggest revision or changes in the existing rules and regulations of the schools in Rajasthan, he said.
A biometric system was also set up in Tribal residential hostel here on a trial basis, and if this works successfully the state government would consider installing such systems in other places too, the minister said.
Meena also asked the tribal area development commissioner to provide sports facilities in these schools.
