Udaipur : Nine men of a family died on the spot on Thursday night after the car in which they were travelling hit a trailer 500 meters ahead of the Baggar toll plaza at Bhim in Rajsamand. Jingle, a six year old girl is the only survivor who have been admitted in a private hospital at Rajsamand. The victims were said to be residents of Sikar district who were settled in Baroda . On Thursday evening they had set off in an innova car from Baroda to attend a marriage function at Udaipurvati in Jhunjhunu district. The mishap took place at around 2 AM, police said.
The trailer was coming from Bhim towards Udaipur and after crossing the toll plaza the trailer driver had parked the vehicle on the wrong side. As he tried to get into the right lane, the innova speeding from the opposite direction crashed into the trailer. Eye witnesses said, the crash came so hard that the roof of the car went flying into the air and all the passengers got badly stuck inside the vehicle. Traffic remained affected for some hours in the area and could be resumed only after the cranes moved the accidental vehicles from the spot. Deogarh police rushed to rescue but had a hard time to pull out all the bodies. Only a little girl could be saved who was admitted in a nearby hospital. Collector K.C Verma, Superintendent of Police Shweta Dhankhar, Additional SP Sudhir Joshi too were at the spot till late. Later police identified the victims as Khayalilal son of Ratanlal Kumavat, Sanjay and Subhash son of Jeevanlal Kumavat, Gopal, Ramdhan and Manish. The survivor, a class one student, is too small to reveal much details of the family or about the mishap, but it was known that her parents were at Salasar and she was travelling with the men who were her relatives, police said.
