Maruti Suzuki India, leader in passenger vehicles, has reported a jump of 8.05% in total sales at 1,39,763 units in March 2017. This includes 1,27,999 units in domestic market and 11,764 units of exports. The company had sold a total of 1,29,345 units in March 2016.
Sales of mini segment cars, including, Alto and WagonR, decreased by 15.55% to 30,973 units during the month under review as compared to 36,678 units in March 2016. The sales of the compact segment comprising Swift, Ritz, Dzire, Ignis, Celerio and Baleno surged by 29.74% to 60,699 units in March 2017 as against 46,786 units in the year-ago period.
The sales of utility vehicles, including Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross and Vitara Brezza soared 31.79% to 18,311 units in March 2017 from 13,894 units in the corresponding month of 2016. Besides, exports during the month under review increased by 12.57% to 11,764 units as compared to 10,450 units in March 2016.
