LPG tanker overturns near gas plant in Udaipur killing one

LPG TankerUdaipur : Panic gripped people here as an LPG tanker overturned after hitting a tree, killing an elderly woman and injuring 5 others near Sakroda gas plant on Monday noon. Soon a large police force, fire engines and administrative officers rushed to the scene. Luckily there was no leakage that prevented any serious accident further. Power supply in the surrounding villages was disconnected and traffic remain affected for some hours after the mishap.

The mishap occurred when driver of the gas tanker lost control while negotiating a curve and it hit a tree. The cleaner  and two people standing under the tree were seriously injured after getting trapped beneath the huge vehicle while two people including a woman who were following the tanker too were trapped in the mishap. The woman, later identified as Deva bai succumbed to the injuries at hospital while one person is said to be in serious condition.

Four fire tenders sprayed water on the tanker to keep it cool while as a precautionary measure power supply
in the surrounding villages were disconnected. Though there was no leakage reported, yet panic hit the area for more than two hours. Additional SP Dr. Rajesh Bharadwaj, Deputy SP Madhuri Verma, Vallabhnagar Deputy Gopaldas, Chander Purohit, Circle Inspector-Pratapnagar, Harendra Singh Sauda CI Sukher, Labhuram CI- Debari police station were at the spot during the rescue operation. Later a crane was called to take away the vehicle after which traffic route was reinstated.
