IMD lowers storm warning but keep guard up

The weather forecast for the next few days does not bode well for many states. The Met dept on Monday issued an alert for  sandstorms in many border districts of Rajasthan.

Schools in Haryana have been closed for 7-8 may after the met department issued a warning of rain and thunderstorm.

The IMD has forecast rain and thunderstorm for 13 states including Delhi-NCR.

The past week saw the death of nearly a 100 people and injury to 300 others in 5 states due to inclement weather. Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of deaths at 73.

Himachal Pradesh could experience heavy rains from the 6th -8th May while Shimla, Solan, Hamirpur , Mandi , Kangra and UNa could face stormy winds on the 7th and 8th

Warning has been issued of a likelihood of rain and fierce winds in the next 48-72 hours in Punjab.

Uttarakhand witnessed severe damage to property in just 15 minutes of fierce winds and heavy rains with trees being uprooted and roofs of many homes overturned. According to the Met dept there could be hail and  thunderstorms in many parts of the state.

Warning of severe bad weather has been issued for Western UP as well.

In addition, heavy rains have been forecast for  JK, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
