Udaipur : With the soaring temperature, incidents of forest and hill fires have been continuously on increase in and around Udaipur division. On Tuesday, in two separate incidents, few huts, a calf and large stock of dry fodder were gutted in Udaipur and Rajsamand district.
In Udaipur, panic struck at Lakadwas industrial area some 15 kilometers from Udaipur city after a massive fire broke out on a vast hilly area nearby. Around 4 in the evening, suddenly flames caught up and spread massively. It rapidly engulfed few of the huts of the Bhil community, luckily people had evacuated their homes thus, were safe, police said. However, one person sustained minor burn injuries who was rushed to hospital. People were tensed as there were few factories nearby.
Three-four fire brigades, policemen tried to douse the fire which hadn’t subsided completely till late hours. Similarly, at Lapsiya village under Kunwariya police station of Rajsamand district, a massive fire was reported in a field. Around 6000 piles of dry fodder, wood were gutted. A two year old calf that was tied inside the shed too was burnt alive. The fire was doused later with the help of the villagers who managed to hold the flames spreading to nearby homes.
