In what came as a major embarrassment for the Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH), the Class 10th Board results were withdrawn due to errors in the merit list.
The Board was forced to retract the declared results only a few hours after they were announced on Monday.
From the data collected from the originally declared merit, it has been gathered that the top scorer of this year’s BSEH Class 10th Examination was Monika Rani of Fatehbad garnering a massive total of 493 marks out of the possible 500. Not much separated the second top scorer from the first as Rupesh of Bhiwani finished second scoring 491 marks out of 500. The third spot was jointly occupied by 4 candidates who all scored 490 marks out of 500 each.
In the official statement release by the Board, it has been stated that there were a few technical glitches which caused errors in the Class 10th Board results, declared on Monday.
Explaining the issue, Jagbir Singh, Chairperson, Board of School Education Haryana, said that the computers modified the three digit scores. This resulted in the reduction of 3 digit scores into 2 digit scores.
As a consequence of this fault, few students, who actually performed well, were given D grades. The Board has therefore suspended two of its employees, with immediate effect, for their negligence which resulted in the mistakes.
Mr. Singh has also said that the originally declared merit list is rendered invalid and the Board is working hard to make the necessary corrections at the earliest. The modified merit list is scheduled to be declared by Monday evening.
