Abhinav Nagori, the 25 year old pilot on board in the aircraft that met a deadly end, belongs from Udaipur city and as the news spread of the mishap, people have been accumulating at his residence at Chitrakoot Nagar to support the tensed family members. Abhinav’s father, Dharamchand Nagori a retired education officer took the first flight to Mumbai and a forward journey to Goa, after getting a late night call from the naval headquarters. Home minister Gulabchand Kataria also spoke to him to get details of the rescue operations while Udaipur collector Ashutosh AT Pednekar, who hails from Goa, ensured all necessary step from the administration to keep track of the search operation. The flight was carrying three people including Abhinav. Other pilot Nikhil Joshi was rescued by a fisherman while Abhinav and an observer Kiran have been missing.

Abhinav was last here in Udaipur for a short winter break in December and had returned to join his duty on January 1. Abhinav is the only son in the family and has two elder sisters married and settled in Jodhpur and Kenya.

Abhinav’s mother Sushila, the Principal at DIET (District Institute of Education and Training) kept calling her husband every half and hour, to get some piece of good news of their son “ We got a call around 1am from the naval headquarters informing about the shocking news, we have been waiting desperately of his safe return since” said a tearful Sushila. Abhinav’s elder sisters Smita and Shweta (both married) were also informed of the mishap. Smita arrived from Jodhpur by afternoon to comfort her mother while Shweta have been calling back home to get details of their loving brother.
20150325004027Abhinav had a passion to serve the nation- Abhinav, a brilliant student had did his schooling from the St Pauls convent school here and later graduated in engineering from SBJ Institute of Technology, Bangalore. His passion for adventure, machines and technology drove him to take up a career as a pilot in the Indian Navy in 2013. In school too he had chosen NCC and had been a perfect glider. After completion of training, Abhinav was posted as a Sub-Lieutenant in Dabolim, Goa. “ On Tuesday evening Abhinav’s father had made a routine call to know about his well being. Abhinav was in a hurry said that he would call back after he finishes off his duty of half an flying in the surveillance craft late evening” Anil Nagori, Abhinav’s uncle said. The parents didn’t hear from him but instead received a call from the Naval office late night which broke the shocking news . “ It has been nearly three years of his service and we all were looking for a suitable bride for him” said his uncle. Since navy officers could marry only after having attained age of 25 years, we were excited on the prospects of his marriage after his 25th birthday in July last” Anil Nagori said.

“ Abhinav has chosen the adventurous career out of his own will and we always complained on his absence on special functions and family unions” said his mother trying hard to hold her tears. “ He had to work for six months at a length and then came on leave to meet us. We rebuked him fondly for staying away from us for so long but he always said that it is a matter of pride to serve one’s country and I am one of the lucky people who get this honour” Sushila added.

Meanwhile Dharamchand Nagori while speaking to TOI from Goa said that the Navy Chief who arrived in Goa had been himself supervising the search operation and the navy is all hopeful on getting the officers. “ When I started from Udaipur, I was all shattered and broken but after reaching Goa Abhinav’s batchmates and the naval staff have been so encouraging and supporting that I am filled with all hopes” he said. People have been calling me from far and wide and praying for my son’s wellness and I am speechless for all the love being showered on us. “ Abhinav had a passion to serve for the country since childhood, I remember the day when he undertook gliding at an NCC event, he is fearless and soon will be back with us”, Nagori claimed.
