Udaipur : Residents from all walks of life descended in droves to Fateh Sagar lakeside here on Tuesday morning to proudly display their patriotic spirit and solidarity. The sea of people had the opportunity to witness almost 50,000 participants from the school and college students, public and private sector, security forces take part in a mesmerising musical event at the venue and sing the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ in unison.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion Union Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar said Vande-Mataram is not just about praising and singing to the glory of our motherland. Its real meaning is to teach us to protect our land and people from all sort of troubles . Referring to the Delhi Smog, the defense minister said “ Delhi mein political pradushan jyada hai lekin mein abhi uski baat nahi kar raha hun. Pollution is one of the imminent danger choking us and we all have to save our ‘matra bhoomi’ not only from the enemies but from environmental degradation too”. Speaking further Parrikar said “ While our brave soldiers defend the country at the frontiers, we the people should work together to safeguard the ecology and environment by protecting Mother Nature”.
Gracing the historic event were Home Minister of Rajasthan Gulab Chand Kataria, PHED minister Kiran Maheshwari and RSS leaders.The air was filled with patriotism as artists from Mumbai rendered classic deshbhakti numbers like “ Jahan Dal Dal pe Sone ki Chidiya”, “ Mere desh ki dharti sona ugale” etc. Veteran music director Anandji of the duo Kalyanji-Anandji fame also enamored the audience by one of his golden hit. The event was hosted by Udaipur chapter of the Hindu Spiritual & Service Foundation, Chennai.
