Udaipur : Misbehavior and abusing a guard on duty inside the police station proved woeful to a budding politician and son of a senior congress leader who had to face arrest along with his aides on Saturday night. Chaos prevailed in the area after large number of congress supporters gathered outside the police station to protest. Extra force from eight police station were called in to contain the situation and higher officials rushed to the scene to prevent any untoward incident ahead of the polling on Sunday. Senior officials tried to pacify the protesters but tension prevailed till the wee hours as the partymen refused to go away. The accused were produced before the Magistrate on Sunday afternoon and released on bail.
Abhimanyu Singh Jhala, son of the District Congress President (rural) LalSingh Jhala and his friends Yudhveer Singh, Prateek Nagar and VeerSingh had barged into the Sukher police station here past midnight chasing two BJP supporters who had taken shelter here fearing an attack. Abhimanyu Jhala, the Gogunda Up-Pradhan himself and his gang had been chasing the men from Futia village in Gogunda after the BJP supporters had fled after damaging vehicles during an election campaigning for the panchayat polls. The congress men beat the guard on-duty Hari Singh and tore his uniform when the cop tried to intervene and even broke the furniture at the station. Two other constables got hurt. Hari Singh registered a complaint against the four men who were immediately arrested under charges for breaking peace and tranquility and creating hindrance in public duty. Meanwhile Abhimanyu informed his father of the incident and the DCC president reached the police station to his son’s rescue. Jhala and his men counter charged the police to have misbehaved with Abhimanyu and his aides whom they claimed, had come to the police station to lodge a complaint against the BJP supporters.
” Abhimanyu had gone to the station to complaint about the BJP men who had damaged vehicles and followed the boys all the way from Gogunda but the police didnt take his complaint and on the contrary misbehaved with our people” Lalsingh Jhala said. The partymen complained that the police misused its authority and applied force to disperse the people who had collected outside the station which was unlawful. Additional SP Dr. Rajesh Bharadwaj, DySP Gopal Singh Bhati tried to pacify the protesters and settled the issue amicably.
