Udaipur : A communal clash broke out in Paloda village under the Lohariya-Garhi police station of Banswara district injuring few people on Sunday evening. The clash began after two communities indulged in a spate following an incident of eve teasing on Diwali night. Angered mob including women and children from tribal community laid a sudden attack on some shops situated in the center of the village, stones were pelted at each other. Shops were forced shut down and people ran to safer places after panic prevailed in the area for some hours. However, police rushed to the scene and contained the situation by late evening. Meanwhile a police force have been deployed in the village to prevent any untoward incident while cross cases have been lodged by both the parties, Rajesh Kumar, the additional SP said.
“ On Diwali night a girl who had come to the market with her brother was allegedly teased by some people from the Brahmin class which led to a tiff between them” informed B.L Meena, the SHO of Lohariya police station. Mahendra Vadera, the girl’s brother received some minor injuries and was admitted in the MG hospital at Banswara. However, on Sunday a rumor about the boy getting serious incited people of his community who gathered at the village center and made an attack. Few vehicles were damaged, show cases at some shops were broken while some sustained injuries as panic prevailed in the area. “ All the men had fled and only tribal women and children were left behind who were pacified and sent back home” said Meena. A battalion of the Mewar Bhil Corp was also called to contain the situation. Later cross cases were lodged at the Lohariya station by both the communities, while peace have been restored, said the police.
